"Meeting the Challenge, Exceeding the Standard" The Power Knights are Manchester High School West's FIRST team. Our team strives to exemplify the values of FIRST and teach students (and parents and mentors) how to work together efficiently to complete a task. These are real skills needed by any individual hoping to succeed in today's global economy. Many of our alumni have gone on to such colleges as MIT, RPI, WPI, RIT, UNH, Stanford, and Dartmouth.

The Steering Committee meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday the 8th, has been rescheduled to next Tuesday the 15th 7:00pm in the woodshop, due to conflicts.

Lone Star Regional

The team has outperformed ourselves once again! We have come away from the Lone Star Regional with two awards, the regional finalist, and the General Motors Industrial Design Award. Way to go Team 501!

Saturday, at the Granite State Regional, the Powerknights have walked away with the coveted Engineering Inspiration Award. Way to go Team 501!

The robot has left the building!

Today, as many of you know, was ship date. This means that the robot has been shipped, and build season is officily over. Hopefully our robot will do as well at the BAE Granite State Regional as last year!

Promising Robot Tests

Tonight (2/16) we hooked up all of the pneumatics and tested our arm in its ability to grab the ball from the floor, hold on to the ball, raise the ball up, and release the ball. It performed all of these tasks very well and when it gets the ball, it holds on tight! We will be making adjustments over the weekend to get it to run as close to perfect as we can but as of now, we are in a very good position.

Industrial Design Award

In addition to winning the first place in the competition, our robot also won the Industrial Design Award! Our 2 speed drive-train and grabber mechanism were mentioned in the description. Congrats to everyone who helped design.
